2025 Bobbie Lake Family Member Award
About the Bobbie Lake Award
The Bobbie Lake Family Member Leadership and Advocacy Award was created in honor of family member, Bobbie Lake, who had a tremendous impact on Florida’s disability community through his advocacy and leadership. His life’s journey included serving as a Council member of the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council as well as serving on the board for the Arc of Florida and as a board member, and later as the Executive Director of the Arc of North Florida. His advocacy to improve his daughter’s quality of life and the lives of others with developmental disabilities left a profound mark on Florida’s developmental disability community. He provided strong leadership to improve the quality of life and services for Floridians with developmental disabilities to include them fully in their communities. This new annual award program will be facilitated by the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council each year, starting in 2025, during Developmental Disabilities (DD) Awareness Day to recognize family members who are committed to advocating and/or serving in leadership roles for Floridians with developmental disabilities and their families.
