Gratitude takes many forms and is often expressed quietly through everyday actions. However, as we approach Thanksgiving, I want to LOUDLY express my gratitude for those whose work may not always be in the spotlight but profoundly impacts the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Whether you’re a caregiver, self-advocate, council member, or part of our broader community, your dedication is at the heart of everything we do.
To the Caregivers, thank you. You provide daily support and foster a sense of belonging for those you serve. Your work is a lifeline for many, and we see the difference it makes in helping people with I/DD to live with dignity and respect.
To the Self-Advocates, thank you. Your courage in sharing your experiences and standing up for your rights continues to drive progress. By sharing your stories and championing your rights, you lead the way to create a better world for people with I/DD. Your voices are powerful.
To the Council Members, thank you. Your insights and leadership guide our mission forward and help us stay focused on what matters most. We have achieved so much, and while there is much work ahead, I’m very grateful to face it together.
And To the Staff, thank you. Your hard work and tireless dedication to our mission does not go unnoticed. I am proud to work alongside such talented, committed individuals who genuinely care about making a positive impact.
Wishing you and your families a warm and joyful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Valerie Breen
