The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. National Adrenal Diseases Foundation

The National Addison's Disease Foundation was formed in 1985 by a young couple as a result of their experiences with Addison's disease. At that time, there was no organization established which would provide guidance and information about what life was like with adrenal insufficiency. There was no way to contact others who shared this illness. Although Addison's disease is considered a rare disease, it is estimated that at least 10,000 individuals in the United States have this condition (this is probably an underestimation).

President's Commission on Excellence in Special Education (PCESE)

On October 3, 2001, President George Bush established a Commission on Excellence in Special Education to collect information and study issues related to Federal, State, and local special education programs with the goal of recommending policies for improving the education performance of students with disabilities.


Project Tech-Link

More and more people are accessing the Internet for information and education. Many educators and families now have access to computers. Merging these two aspects, the concept of Project TechLink was born over a year and a half ago. It came to life in the Fall of 1996 when the U.S. Department of Education funded Project TechLink for a three year grant period.


SSA's RED Book

The Social Security Administration has released the 2006 edition of what many people simply call the "Red Book," which is a summary guide to employment support for individuals with disabilities under the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplementary Security Income (SSI) programs.

The Red Book contains useful information that will assist these folks in knowing how to go to or return to work in such a way that helps maximize economic self-sufficiency. This publication may be an empowering and invaluable tool to enable people with disabilities to enter the world of employment as part of their overall life approach of fulfilling career dreams and aspirations and striving to reach their greatest potential as they continually seek to enhance their own economic productivity.
